Overview
Living in Toronto, I’ve noticed that many visitors and even locals often perceive the city as boring compared to other big cities, suggesting
that the city’s uniqueness isn’t always easy
to uncover.
To address this, I’m developing an app that showcases Toronto’s hidden gems—from culture-based shops and events to current affairs—for anyone eager to explore or connect more deeply with the city.
Unlike existing platforms like BlogTO, Culture Trip, or Time Out, which often rely on broad, generic categories, this app takes a fresh approach. It offers more specific categorization, personalized recommendations, and curated content sourced directly from the heart of Toronto’s local culture. The goal is to create a unique and engaging platform that reflects the city's vibrant character.

Problem
The uniqueness of feature shops or events are not easily be found and discovered, hence the impression of the city of Toronto for local residents and visitors could be seen as boring, where they’d only have access to info that introduces touristy spots from local large media.
Goal
Creating a platform that introduces local culture-based shops/events/current affairs to people interested in exploring or knowing more in-depth about the city of Toronto.
User Research
I will collect data by survey that conduct 7-8 questions
I’m trying to solve the boundary of difficulty to find an event and shop, and a place in the city. The result will define if my hypothesis is a real issue, and if so, to determine what category of exploration guidance I shall focus on.
